30 Brazilian Street Artist you should know

30 most exciting Brazilian Street Artist RIGHT NOW

We don’t want to say who is “best or better”, the numbers have no influence on the list. We “Street Art Brazil” just want to share this list of street artist you should know. We never believed that has the best in terms of art.

The criteria we used for choose these 30 street artists. Who is more active on the streets. Who is doing  more murals and street pieces not related to commercial works or brands.

We would like to promote those artists who are working like independent on the streets and not only on canvas, events, and commission walls. Of course other list criteria we used to choose these street artist is the style.  We selected street artist who have more unique style each are easier to be recognized among others.

The last reason is we didn’t choose any individual or label then as a “street artists” for those who are self proclaim to be Graffiti writers saying that what they do is Graffiti and not Street Art. Because there are a few names who are very active on the streets and have a respected name and style that we would make then to be included on our list.

So if your favorite “street artist” is not included on this list. Before you criticize this list make sure to know the difference between Graffiti  and  Street Art . Also if your favorite “street artist” is not just painting at vila madalena, doing commercial work, painting only for events, brands, indoor and commission walls .

This list is made it by people who really love street art and know what is really going on in the streets of Brazil.

Graffiti and Street Art

Graffiti writing and Street Art are often confused with one another. Both are subversive art movements where work is displayed in public rather than a gallery setting. While graffiti writers place their work in public, generally speaking they are not so interested in the public understanding their work. Usually they want to speak to other graffiti writers. Street artists want everyone to view and be engaged by their work. They are trying to make a statement. Graffiti writing and street art are closely related contemporary art movements, however, they differ in terms of technique, function and intent.

The main difference between graffiti writing and street art is intention. Graffiti writers are not so interested in the general public understanding their artwork. They are primarily concerned with other graffiti writers who can decipher the coded tags and appreciate the style of letter, techniques and color pallet.

Graffiti has many rules, tips, materials types, a history and a style that is easily recognizable.  Street Art on the other hand not have rules and this history old as graffiti . Street artists are just mostly different their skills and history have evolved differently for different reasons, a brush or a computer might be there skilled trait. For Graffiti its almost always spray paint like 95%.

The strength of street art is its ability to captivate people as part of their day-to-day experience. With graffiti writing, the audience becomes part of something personal and subversive. Although similar artistic movements in terms of venue, street art and graffiti writing are each distinguished by technique, function and audience.
